A Day of Turmoil

Holly just called me. It turns out that Caden has RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) and an ear infection. I of course did some fast research and the ear infection may have been caused by the RSV.

Dr. Krenzer prescribed Caden an aerosol treatment called ribavirin. We put it in a machine and Caden has to breathe it in. They also recommended we raise his bed a little and use a humidifier in his room.

Holly has to take tomorrow off as well, and the kids can come back next week. We have to watch him to make sure that it doesn't get any worse. We don't want him to be hospitalized due to this.

NOTE: I found a preventative you can get that will help prevent RSV. It's called Synagis. It's a shot that helps those at a higher risk that will help protect you for 30 days.
